VIA announced Surfboard for mini-notebooks

VIA Technologies announced a reference design of ultra-compact motherboard for mini-laptops called VIA Surfboard C855. Innovation includes a processor VIA C7-M ULV, and the new media system processor VIA VX855, announced the other day. The new board is designed for 10-12 inch mini-notebooks. According to VIA, its use not only reduces development time and cost of new equipment for manufacturers of mini-notebooks, but also help introduce the latest technology in devices such as playback of 1080p HD-video, and support 8-channel HD-audio.
